EAR IMPRESSIONS - MOLD TAKING
Having some Custom In ears will allow you to have a better external isolation of all sound, focusing only on the sound that comes out of your in ears.

In order to have your in ears exactly the same as your ears, it is necessary to obtain the impression of it.

Impressions should be taken with an ideal impression material for this process.

For this process, the ideal is to go to an audiologist in your city, for that you can easily search for an audiologist on Google and be able to make an appointment for said impression taking.

Impression taking for hearing aid mold

The mold impression is done to make a custom mold of the user's ear; according to the hearing loss of each person and the type of hearing aid as well. The most reliable technique to take the impression of the mold is through the syringe method; which consists of the use of a special syringe to fill the ear canal with the paste for the impression. It is the most suitable because when using the syringe there is no extra pressure in the duct; and also the impression is more reliable in terms of the shape of the duct and the rest of the shell or helix depending on the type of mold that is decided to take.

The steps are the following:
The auditory canal is observed through an otoscopy, it is observed how the canal is located and if there is a cerumen plug, in this case it is necessary to remove it. If there is a wax plug, you will be referred to an otolaryngologist to clean the ear.
An otoblock is inserted into the duct, which is a sponge plug with a thread, which limits the passage of the impression paste and prevents it from reaching the eardrum. The otoblock is placed in the second curvature of the duct, in this portion there is great sensitivity, so care must be taken that it does not cause pain to the user.
The paste mixture is then prepared and drawn into the syringe. The tip of the syringe is placed inside the canal near the sponge plug and the ear is filled to the outside with the paste. You will feel pressure in the ear, but this is normal.
Subsequently, wait for the paste to dry and gently remove it by turning it out of the canal.
Sometimes it is necessary to take more than one impression of the ear to ensure that the best impression is sent to the laboratory.
After taking the impression of the ear, it is necessary to check the canal to make sure that there is no trace of paste in the canal, and if it is necessary to take a second impression, it is necessary to check if the canal is irritated or if the user feels discomfort in it. , checking that everything is normal, we proceed to take the second impression.

Impressions should be taken just after the second bend of the ear canal in the "open mouth" position.

To accomplish this, a block should be used to hold the mouth open throughout the impression process (starting when the impression material is injected into the ear and ending after the impression material has hardened completely). Or else you should keep your mouth open to the extent of 2 fingers (3 to 4 cm approx).

It is important that you tell the audiologist that your impressions are for personal monitors, so he will know that if he takes the complete impression of your shell, you should also tell him that it is of the utmost importance that the impression material completely covers your external ear (as seen the photo below in the red box).

The cost of the exam and impressions must be paid to the audiologist.
